Virginia Jean “Ginny” Cotter Blanchard was born July 25, 1923 to John and Gladys Barr Cotter. She died Jan. 1, 2015 and is buried in Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Ginny served in World War II with the U.S. Navy WAVES at the U.S. Naval Training Station, Sampson, NY. She was married to Warren A. Blanchard. Warren served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Princeton (CVL-23) which was sunk by the Japanese. He was later rescued and transferred to Hawaii to recover from injuries suffered in the battle.
