Carrie Lou Bowers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Bowers, 815 Baltimore street, has received orders to leave Oct. 16 to report for training in the Waves at Hunter college, New York. She was formerly employed in the district office of Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Waterloo.

A brother, Sgt. Joe G. Bowers, is serving in an army transport company at Camp Blanding, Fla.

Navy Bride

Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Bowers, 815 Baltimore street announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Carrie Lou Bowers, Wave seaman first class, to Robert Clyde Miller, seaman first class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Miller of Detroit, Mich.

The bride-elect, formerly an employee of the district offices of the Northwestern Bell Telephone, Co., enlisted Oct. 11, 1944 and is now stationed at the naval air base at Alameda, Cal.

Seaman Miller took training at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Olathe, Kan, and Memphis, Tenn. He is also stationed at Alameda.

The wedding will be an event of the near future.

Carrie L. Bowers and Navy Seaman Wed in California

In an evening event performed at 7 o'clock Saturday in the navy chapel at Alameda, Cal., Lt. (j.g.) O.P. Gaman, chaplain, officiated at a double ring ceremony when Carrie Lou Bowers, Wave seaman first class, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Bowers, 815 Baltimore street, became the bride of Robert Clyde Miller, seaman first class in the navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Miller of Detroit, Mich., before an altar decorated with red roses, lilies and a background of summer flowers.

Carrie Bowers Miller, seaman first class, was given an honorable discharge from the Waves on Oct. 27 at Balboa Park, Cal., according to word received here by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Bowers, 815 Baltimore street. She was stationed at the Alameda, Cal. naval air station and was discharged under provision of the point system.
