Joins SPARS
Miss Frances Auliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Auliff of LeClaire, Ia., has been accepted in the SPARS, the Coast Guard auxiliary organization, and is awaiting assignment to Hunter college, New York City, for training.
She is a graduate of LeCLaire high school and is at present employed at the Rock Island arsenal.

Miss Frances Auliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Auliff of LeClaire, left Sunday for Hunters college, N.Y., for training in the SPARS. She was formerly employed at the Rock Island arsenal.

PRINCETON SPAR
Miss Frances Auliff, SPAR, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Auliff, is spending a furlough with her parents in Princeton. She enlisted Feb. 15, 1943 and after training at Hunter college, New York, took specialist training in the coast guard station, Palm Beach, Fla., and is enroute to Long Beach, Calif., where she will sturdy for storekeeper rating. Her present rating is seaman, first class.

Announces Troth
Announcement is made by the Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Auliff of LeClaire, Ia., of the engagement of their daughter, Frances E. Auliff, seaman first class in the SPARS and William Glider of Muskogee, Okla., who is in the United States Coast Guard Reserves. No date has been set for the wedding.
The bride-elect was graduated form the LeClaire high school and was employed at the Rock Island arsenal prior to joining the SPARS May 3, 1943. After training at Hunter college in New York and Daytona Beach, Fla, she was transferred to Long Beach, Calif, where she is now stationed.
Mr. Glider was graduated from the Muskogee high school and attended the University of Oklahoma, lacking only three months of study to receive his degree. He recently graduated from the radios school division of the Coast Guard and is also stationed at Long Beach, Calif.
