Alberta Anderson of WAVES Will Receive Radio Naval Training

Alberta R. Anderson of the WAVES, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Anderson, 1624 1/2 West Third street, Davenport, was enrolled in the naval training school at Miami University, Oxford, O., where she is learning the fundamentals of radio communications.

Her selection to the specialty school was made on the results of her boot training aptitude tests. She will learn to operate navy radio transmitting and receiving equipment, encipher and decipher navy codes messages and learn the basic operation principles of all navy radio and electrical equipment.

WAVE Become Bride At Nuptials on West

News has been received of the marriage of Miss Alberta R. Anderson, seaman, 1/c, R.M. in the WAVES, daughter of Albert Anderson and a sister of Mrs. Eugene Estes of 1314 W Eighth street, Davenport, to Seaman 1/c William Ronald Ekin of the navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ekin of Elyria, Ohio.

Vows were spoken on Feb. 16 at the home of J.H. Dobson at Bainbridge Island, Wash, who gave the bride in marriage. Chaplain Barroell performed the ceremony. Miss Marion J. Barker, seaman 1/c, R.M., was the maid of honor and Seaman 1/c Clifford J. Johnson was the best man.

The bride, who entered the WAVES in April 1944, was formerly employed at the Rock Island arsenal. The bridegroom has been in the navy for three years.
