SOUTHWEST IOWANS ENTER THE NAVY

The enlistment of three southwestern Iowa youths in the navy was announced late Wednesday by officers at the local recruiting office.

The men are George Morgan Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Watson, 711 Perrin avenue; Gordon Bert McClusky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo F. McClusky of Carson; and John Lee Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroeder, 2111 South Eighth street.

REPORT TO GREAT LAKES NAVAL BASE

Six local men have reported to Great Lakes, Ill, for “boot” training in the navy, it was announced from headquarters there Wednesday.

They include Maurice R. Damewood, 17, 1013 Seventh avenue; Fred Palmerton, 18, 1704 Avenue C; James L. Twomey, 18, 1600 Madison avenue; Carl C. Tabler, 17, 714 Bluff street; Robert L. Howe, 18, Route 4; and Kenneth E. Bauer, 18, 9 North Thirty-first street.

THREE ENLISTED IN NAVY HERE

Local navy recruiting officers Wednesday announced the enlistment of three Council Bluffs youths in the naval reserve.

They are Lawrence Edward Spratt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weilder Spratt, 15 Stutsman street; Russell Dewey Berndine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dewey Berdine (Berndine?), 3224 Tenth avenue; and John Lewis McGruder, son of Mrs. Julia Naomi McGruder, 411 North Twenty-first street.
