Aurora Man Is Released
Aurora (Special) - 1st Lt. Melvin Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loney Allen of Aurora, has been released from active duty in the Air Force. He entered service on Nov. 24, 1939 and received his training at Portland, Oregon. His eleven months overseas were spent piloting a B-25, completing 50 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. He arrived in the United States in January and has been Flight Instructor in La Junta, California, until his release last week.
Report Fairbank Man Wounded
Fairbank (Special) – Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Plies have received a telegram from the government that their son, Thomas C. Plies, has been wounded in action in the South Pacific.
