8 Northeast Iowans on Casualty Lists
War department casualty lists released for publication contained the names of eighty northeast Iowans.
Listed as killed in action in the Mediterranean area were:
Sgt. Alfred R. Leonard, husband of Mrs. Margaret A. Leonard of Manchester [Delaware Co.], and Pfc. Robert L. Wall, son of Albert A. Wall of Montour [Tama Co.].
Killed in action in the European area were:
Tech 5th Gr. Robert C. Craig, brother of Mrs. Esther Houck of Jesup [Black Hawk Co.];
Pfc. Eldon E. Crawford, son of Majel E. Crawford, Route 1, Osage [Mitchell Co.].
Wounded in action in the European area were:
Pfc. Lawrence D. Sharey, husband of Mrs. Madeline F. Sharey of Charles City [Floyd Co.];
Cpl. Vernon E. Brown, son of Mrs. Mamie Welch of Decorah [Winneshiek Co.];
Pfc. Merlin L. Buck, son of Charles A. Buck of La Porte City [Black Hawk Co.];
Pfc. Vern F. Dralle, husband of Mrs. Margaret R. Dralle of Bristow [Butler Co.].
