NOTE: On January 30, 1945, the U. S. Army Rangers, the Alamo Scouts and Filipino guerrillas liberated more than 500 Allied prisoners of war from a Japanese POW camp located near Cabanatuan City, The Philippines. Many of the POWs had survived the Bataan Death March and feared execution upon General Douglas MacArthur’s forces return to Luzon. The liberation of Cantanataun has been depicted in several motion pictures, most recently in “The Great Raid.”
