William Leonard Witter was born Mar. 15, 1908 to Milo Warren and Stella Pearl Busby Witter. He died Feb. 10, 1943 and is buried in Clearfield Cemetery, Ringgold County, IA. He was initially buried in temporary military cemeteries on Saipan, in Japan and the Philippine Islands.
Chief Petty Officer Witter served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He died as a Japanese POW.
