Robert Paul Willerton was born Nov. 2, 1916 to Robert and Mary Hopp Willerton. He died June 24, 1944 and has a cenotaph in the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Petty Officer Willerton served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and became a POW after the Houston was sunk and died as a POW on a Japanese ship enroute to Japan. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
