Lawrence T. Whipple was born June 18, 1907 to William I. and Amy E. Whipple. He died Jan. 14, 1988 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Sgt. Whipple was stationed with an Army laundry unit in North Africa. He was also stationed in Italy.
After serving in World War II, Lawrence returned to Webster City and in 1946 started DeLuxe Cleaners which he owned and operated until retiring in 1973.

Lawrence T. Whipple, 80, of Webster City died Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. He had been a patient there since Dec. 24.
Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. There will be graveside flag folding by American Legion Post No. 191. Friends may call at Foster Funeral Home Saturday, Jan. 16 after 3 p.m.
Lawrence Taft Whipple, son of William and Amy Smith Whipple, was born June 18, 1907 at Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1925.
He was employed for several years at Star Laundry and Cleaners. From 1942-1945, he served with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy.
In 1946, he started DeLuxe Cleaners. He owned and operated the business until retiring in 1973, and then continued to live in Webster City.
He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Sue Logan of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Dora Kersten of Woodburn, Ore., Mrs. Edith Sharyer of San Jacinto, Calif., Wilma Whipple of San Jacinto, Calif., and Frances Whipple of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
He was a member of the American Legion and was a former Webster City Elks member.
