Norman L. Whelan was born Aug. 30, 1917 to Joseph Earl and Myrtle Meeks Whelan. He died Feb. 3, 1945 and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium.
Lt. Whelan served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 324th Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, Heavy and was KIA and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
