Pvt. Max Weaver arrived Saturday from San Francisco, Calif., to spend a thirty day furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Weaver and sister, Mrs. John Maiso. Since his carrier, the Yorktown, was sunk following the battle of Midway, Pvt. Weaver has been on the Hawaiian islands. He will next report for duty at Norfolk, Va.

Max Lloyd Weaver was born July 16, 1924 to Lloyd Loyal and Frieda Weis Weaver. He died June 7, 1968 and is buried in Superior Township Cemetery, Superior, IA.
Pvt. Weaver served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.
