CITATION FOR C. V. WARREN

ODT Official Cited for His Service at U. S. Capital.

Charles V. Warren of Webster City has received a citation for distinguished service in war transportation at the direction of President Truman, according to information received here Saturday from Washington, D. C.

The citation as presented by Col. J. Monroe Johnson, director of the office of defense transportation, with his personal congratulations. Warren, a former member of the Freeman-Journal staff, is director of the ODT’s division of information.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren have been making their temporary home in Arlington, Va. They were recent visitors to Webster City, attending funeral services for the late W. F. Hunter, Mrs. Warren’s father and editor of the Daily Freeman-Journal.

Charles Virgil ‘Chuck’ Warren was born Apr. 8, 1904 to Charles S. and Kate O. Yelton Warren. He died Dec. 26, 1991 in Shingle Springs, CA.

As Information Specialist and press officer for the federal government, Charles was stationed at Omaha, Neb., Chicago, Ill., Vinita, Okla, and at Washington D.C. During WWII, he served as an assistant to the director of the Office of Defense Transportation, receiving a Presidential Citation for distinguished service.
