Lawrence Vargus was born Aug. 10, 1920 to Francisco and Maria Felipa Diaz Vargus. He died Dec. 10, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France.
Pvt. Vargus served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 378th Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Division and was KIA in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Lawrence’s brothers, Joseph Brady “Joe” and James D., also served in World War II.
