T Sgt. John W. Ulrich, whose home is at 510 Otoe Street, recently received his promotion from the rank of corporal. He is serving with the Ninth armored engineer battalion in the European theater of operations. Sgt. Ulrich participated in the valiant stand made by his division in Belgium and Luxembourg. The division’s action in those sectors prevented a complete breakthrough by the enemy and saved vital centers of supply and communication.
