MISSING ON DESTROYER --W. Meredith Temple, S 1/c, whose wife lives at 304 Vermont S.E., is missing on a destroyer in the south Pacific, according to a message received from the navy department. Seaman Temple's work is in radar and he had been in New Guinea and the Philippines since going overseas last November. He had recently been placed on the destroyer. No date as to the time he was missing was given. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Temple, 109 Connecticut S.E.

Williard Meredith Temple was born Feb. 14, 1910 to Williard Melphan and Leona VanKirk Temple. He died Mar. 26, 1945 and is memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, HI and in Elmwood Saint Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
Petty Officer Temple was KIA in Okinawa Gunto aboard the USS Kimberly (DD-521).
