Lieut. Wilbur L. Stokley, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Stokley, who live on a farm near Sergeant Bluff, recently was graduated as a B-24 bomber pilot at the army air force pilot school, Fort Worth, Texas. Lieut. Stokely won his wings and commission at Frederick, Okla., after completing preliminary flight training at Oklahoma City and at Garden City, Kansas.

Sioux Cityan Is Given Promotion
The war department has announced the promotion of 13 Iowa officers including a former Sioux Cityan, Second Lieut. Wilbur L. Stokley, 22, advanced to a first lieutenant’s rank in the air corps. He is a pilot Lieut. Stokley is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Stokley, route 2. A graduate of Central High School, he was employed for several years as a livestock buyer.
He entered service May 1, 1942.

First Lieut. Wilbur L. Stokley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stokley, who lives on a farm near Sioux City, has been awarded the distinguished flying cross for extraordinary achievement in accomplishing with distinction aerial operational missions over enemy occupied Europe. He is a member of the Second bombardment division of the 491st heavy bombardment group.
