Donald Leroy Smith was born Oct. 22, 1920 to Arthur Leroy and Julia Hanson Smith. He died June 11, 1944 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mason City, IA.
Lt. Smith was KIA over the English Channel while serving in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was the Co-Pilot of a plane lost over the English Channel and was first declared MIA. He was first buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Normandy, France.
