Arthur J. Smith has arrived at the army air force technical training command post at Scott field, Illinois, where he will take a course in radio operating and mechanics. His wife, Ila M. Smith resides in Sioux City.
Arthur J. Smith has been promoted to private first class in the army air force technical training command at Scott field, Illinois. Mrs. Smith resides at 3614 Davis Avenue. Private Smith was inducted February 14, 1943 and received his basic training at St. Petersburg, Fla.

Arthur Jesse Smith was born July 18, 1916 to Jesse A. and Lucinda M. Smith. He died Oct. 24, 1998 and is buried in Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn, IL.
Sgt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
