3 Letter Carriers Enlist;
Unworried About Carrying Packs
DES MOINES, (AP) – At least three men who enlisted in the army here are not worrying about marching with packs on their backs. The three – Oliver Whitmarsh, 27, Keith Skidmore, 30, and Bob Jacobson, 26 – are Des Moines mail carriers and figured out that the army pack is just about the same weight as a full mail bag.

Keith Wayne Skidmore was born Feb. 26, 1917 to Wayne J. and Lessie O. Varner Skidmore. He died Mar. 14, 1980 and is buried in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, La Vale, MD.
Keith served in World War II with the U.S. Army 29th Infantry Division.
