Sergeant Michael Skalovsky, on a 24-hour leave in Sioux City, is one of 50 men chosen from the Seventh corps area for officers training course at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was stationed in the medical corps at Fort Francis Warren, Wyoming. He is on his way to Fort Benning where he will receive officers training for the infantry. Sergeant Skalovsky is visiting with his wife at the Sydney apartments.

Lieut. Skalovsky Wounded in Action in Mediterranean
Among the names of 13 Iowans recently wounded in action in the Mediterranean area, as announced Wednesday by the war department, was that of Second Lieut. Michael Skalovsky of Sioux City. He is a son of Mrs. Eli Skalovsky.
Early this month, announcement was made that the officer had been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action somewhere in Italy. Lieut. Skalovsky’s wife resides in San Antonio, Texas, where she is employed by the America Red Cross.

Michael Skalovsky was born June 20, 1911 to Eli and Sarah Hattoff Skalovsky. He died Mar. 29, 1952 and is buried in Floyd Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
Michael served with the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II.
