Erwin C. Schmidt was born about 1915 to Herman Carl Frederick and Wilhelmine “Minnie" Auguste Pohlmann Schmidt. He died Jan. 8, 1945 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Henri-Chapelle, Liege, Belgium.
Pvt. Schmidt served in World War II with the U.S. Army 76th General Hospital and was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
