Francis L. Schmid, whose wife, Delores, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis F. Schmid, reside at 1519 Jackson street, has been promoted to staff sergeant at a 14th air force base in China, S. Sgt. Schmid, who enlisted in May, 1943, has served overseas for 17 months, most of that time in the China theater with the Flying Tigers. He was graduated from Hastings college, Hastings, Neb.
