T/Sgt. Warren D. Pritchett

Honored

T/5 Warren D. Pritchett, son of Mrs. H.M. Pritchett, 804 Pierce Street, was a “headliner personality” of the Headliner newssheet of the Third Battalion headquarters company on Okinawa. His portrait, signed “Eddie” and made on the island, illustrates the story that names him “the congenial lad from Sioux City, Iowa, clerk for the battalion staff section.” He is a charter member of his division and before entering military service was a postal clerk here.

Technician Pritchett was inducted October 12, 1942 in Omaha and went overseas in July, 1944. He escaped serious injury on Okinawa when shrapnel from Jap artillery shell ripped through his shirt missing him by an inch, the Headliner story relates.
