IOWA HONOR ROLL
These Iowans, like those pictured here on previous Sundays, have given their lives for their country. They are men who have died in actual combat or in prison camps. The fourth line under each name designates the theatre of war in which they were serving. Other pictures will be published later.

John Frederick Ploff was born Feb. 9, 1921 to John and Bertha Mattie Strief Ploff. He died June 6, 1942, was buried at sea, and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
Petty Officer Ploff served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hammann (DD-412) and was KIA during the Battle of Midway.
