Pvt. Myles Ollinger Missing In Action
Was Stationed In Vicinity of Manila on Island of Luzon
Message from War Department Reports Him Missing Since May 17
Mrs. Myles Ollinger received a message from the war department Tuesday afternoon stating that her husband, Pvt. Myles Ollinger, was missing in action since May 17. No further details were given in the messages.
Pvt. Ollinger had been stationed in the Philippines and from information from newspaper releases it was known that he was in the vicinity of Manila on Luzon Island. The last letter received by Mrs. Ollinger was dated May 13 and at that time he said that he was in a foxhole and that he didn't even realize it was Sunday until a buddy reminded him.
Pvt. Ollinger was inducted in July, 1944, and received his training at Camp Wolters, Texas, and Fort Ord, Calif. He went overseas in Feb. 1945, where he was in active with an infantry division. His wife, the former Miss Marcella Hronek, and their two children, Sandra and Roger, reside here. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ollinger.

Myles Leo Ollinger was born May 23, 1919 to John and Emma A. Baker Ollinger. He died May 17, 1945 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Pvt. Ollinger served in World War II with the U.S. Army 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division and was MIA/KIA on Luzon, Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
