Sgt. E. Myhr Is Reported Missing in Action Jan.25
Former Laker With Gen. Patton's Army East of Luxemburg
Clear Lake -- Mr. and Mrs.B.C. Myhr, 520 W. State street, received word Friday afternoon, through the war department, that their son Sgt. Ellsworth Myhr, has been missing in action since Jan. 25. The message was sent to his wife at Britt but she is now living in Swea City so her sister took the telegram and notified Mr. and Mrs. Myhr.
Sgt. Myhr was with Gen. Patton's 3rd army operating east of Luxemburg. His last letter received here was dated Jan. 1.
Sgt. Myhr was graduated from Clear Lake high school in 1936, attended Mason City junior college 2 years and was employed at Lake theater a year before becoming assistant manager of the Fullerton Lumber company at Britt. He was married to Miss Patricia Cruise of Britt Nov. 7, 1940. They have had daughter, Sandra Jean, now a year old.
Sgt. Myhr entered service Dec. 1, 1942, and went to Salina, Kans., and on maneuvers in Tennessee before being assigned to Camp McCain, Miss. He landed in England last August and went to France in September.
His younger brother, Pvt. Carroll Myhr, is at Camp Sibert, Ala. His elder brother, Derwin C. Myhr, lives at Spencer and his sister, Myrna Jean, at home.

Ellsworth B. Myhr was born Sept. 22, 1918 to Berndt C. and Constance Myhr. He died Oct. 22, 2010 and is buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
Sgt. Myhr served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was a POW of the Germans.
