Lowell H. Morris was born in 1911 to James W. and Mary Ellen Morris. He died Aug. 20, 1944 and was buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, KY. He was originally buried in Oahu-Schofield Barracks Mausoleum No. 2, Hawaiian Islands and was re-interred In the United States on Aug. 29, 1949.
Sgt. Morris served in World War II with the U.S. Air Corps 677th Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group and was aboard the B-29-5-BW Super-fortress #42-6286 “Praying Mantis” when it crashed while returning from a mission over Japan. All eleven crew were KIA.
