Edward Mitchels Dies in Germany
Staff Sergeant Edward Austin Mitchels, 26, was killed in action in Germany Dec 7, the war department has notified his wife, Mary, 849 Sixteenth st.
He had served with the infantry in France, Belgium and Germany since September, 1944. Sergeant Mitchels had been in service since November, 1942, and trained at Camp Maxey, Tex.
Survivors inlude his wife; son, Jerry Edward, 2; two stepdaughters, Darlene and Betty Jean Graham; and his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Price, of Boone, Ia.
After attending Boone schools, Sergeant Mitchels was employed by the Iowa Pipe & Tile Co. in Des Moines.
