HOME ON FURLOUGH
T. Sgt. Don McVicker and Pfc. David McVicker—both veterans of overseas duty with the U. S. army—are making their home here in Webster City with Mrs. Ella Tuttle, their aunt, while they are enjoying their furloughs together.’
Sergeant McVicker expects to report to Williams Field, Chandler, Ariz., after his 15-day furlough here has been completed. The sergeant recently returned from 20 months of overseas service as a mechanic with the army air forces, being located first in the European theater of war and later in the China-Burma-India was theater. Sergeant McVicker was attached to a fighter group.
Pfc. Dave McVicker, who holds the purple heart medal for wounds suffered in action while serving with the Third army in France, will visit here on a 21-day furlough before returning to Kennedy hospital, Memphis, Tenn. The infantryman was wounded in the leg by mortar shrapnel while serving with General Patton’s forces and was hospitalized in England for four months, returning to the U. S. about the first of March. He had been overseas about eight months.
The two soldiers are sons of C. E. McVicker, formerly of Stratford but now living at Vanport, Ore.

David Ernest McVicker was born May 2, 1920 to Calvin Ernest and Alice Cordelia Walker McVicker. He died Dec. 15, 1984 and is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA.
