Warren Russell “Slim” McLeod was born Feb. 1, 1924 to Russell and Georgia J. Terhune McLeod. Jay Roberts was his step-father. He died Dec. 27, 2003 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, IA.
Coxswain McLeod served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Swift (AM-122), serving in the European Theatre, participating in the Normandy Invasion where he was wounded.
