Norman Gayle Mackey was born June 18, 1921 to Leland C. and Nellie Elaine Waddicor Mackey. He died Apr. 15, 1945.
Sgt. Mackey served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. G, 25th Infantry, First Army and was KIA in Torfhaus, Germany. He had been awarded the Purple Heart after sustaining a foot wound in France and the oak leaf cluster after he was wounded in the hip at Aachen, Germany. He had been out of the hospital only a few weeks when he was killed.
