KILLED IN GERMANY -- Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lund of Rake received word that their son, Sgt. Wallace D. Lund was killed in action over Germany Feb 23. He was a radio gunner in a B-24 bomber. He is the 2nd member of the class of 1942 of Rake high school to make the supreme sacrifice. The other was Underbakke, radioman, 3/c, who went down with the U.S.S. Johnston in October.

G.I. INTERRED -- Final rites were held here for Sgt. Wallace D. Lund, member of the army air forces from Rake who was killed in action when returning from a bombing mission over Germany. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lund of Rake. The Golden Star American Legion post conducted the military rites. Sgt. Lund had been temporarily interred in the Cambridge cemetery of the British Isles.

Wallace Duain Lund was born Apr. 16, 1925 to Bert E. and Abbie R. Lund. He died Feb. 23, 1945 and is buried in West Cemetery, Rake, IA.
Sgt. Lund served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 754th Bomb Squadron, 458th Bomb Group and was KIA over Germany. He was the radio operator on B-24H #41-29596.
