Elmer Walter Kretzschmar was born Nov. 18, 1912 to Otto Louis and Minnie Martha Potratz Kretzschmar. He died Nov. 18, 2012 and is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Lt. Col. Kretzschmar served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
