Carl E. Kasemeier was born Aug. 7, 1924 to Carl Ebel and Harriet Wilson Kasemeier. He died Mar. 5, 2009 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Waverly, IA. Lt. Col. Kasemeier served in World War II with the U.S. Army 78th Infantry Division. He also served in Korea and Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart for combat wounds in Korea. He also received the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, Korea and Vietnam Presidential Unit Citations, Army Commendation Medal, United Nations Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and a number of other service citations. He retired after a 26 year Army career.
