Ellsworth businessman dies of heart attack on Monday
Otto Kalvig, 56, longtime resident and owner and operator of locker plant at Ellsworth, died suddenly Monday afternoon at his locker plant. His death was attributed to a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. D. Ehlers officiating. The Becker funeral home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Ellsworth.
Otto Kalvig was born February 22, 1914, at Varina, Iowa, and died February 23, 1970, at Ellsworth at the age of 56 years. He had lived in the Varina and Vincent communities until 1929 when he moved to Ellsworth. He attended the public schools and graduated from Ellsworth high school. He had owned and operated the locker plant in Ellsworth the past 27 years.
He is survived by one brother, Scott Kalvig of Des Moines; one sister, Evelyn Lange of Ellsworth, and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Sigrid, who died in infancy.
He was a Veteran of World War II, having served 5 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, the American Legion, and had served as secretary of Greenwood Cemetery Association and also served on the town council.

Otto S. G. Kalvig was born Feb. 22, 1914 to Engel and Anna Ersland Kalvig. He died Feb. 23, 1970 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Williams, IA.
Otto served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Battery C, 768th Field Artillery Battalion.
