Wins Pilot Wings
William E. Jenks, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L Jenks, 3426 Fourth Avenue, has received his silver wings and a second lieutenant’s commission at the air force advanced flying school training field, Lake field, Phoenix, Arizona.
Graduation exercises were held recently at the field. Second Lieut. Jenks attended Pasadena Junior college for two years and was active in football and track. He served as captain of the football team one season.

Receives Army Wings
Second Lieut. William E. Jenks, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Jenks, 3426 Fourth Avenue, recently received his silver wings at Luke field, Phoenix, Arizona. Lieut. Jenks entered the service January 14, 1942, and now is taking advance training in pursuit flying at Dale Mabry field, Tallahassee, Florida. He is a graduate of East High School and Pasadena Junior College, where he received letters in track and football from both schools.

William E. Jenks was born Jan. 19, 1921 to F. L. and Jessie Adelia Liggett Jenks. He died Mar. 13, 1943/FOD Mar. 14, 1944 and is buried in North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis, Tunisia.
2nd Lt. Jenks served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 74th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group and was MIA/KIA in southeastern Tunisia and awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.
