URBANA BROTHERS . . . chased each other all over Europe and then to the Pacific theater of war before they finally met on Luzon, the picture above resulting.
At the left is Sgt. Orville Hauser and at the right, Pfc. Vaughn Hauser, sons of the Lester Hausers of Urbana, and both former employees of LaPlant-Choate. Orville has been in service three years, his brother 22 months. They were a day apart going to the Pacific theater and their meeting was arranged by relatives through letters. Two sisters, Miss Donna Hauser and Mrs. Russell Browdy, and a brother, Clifford, live in Cedar Rapids.

Obituary:
Orville L. Hauser, 84, of Lenexa, Kan., formerly of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Lakeview Village, Lenexa, following a brief illness. Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Steve Hindman of St. Luke's Hospital will officiate.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Heckroth and husband Roger of Hiawatha and Gwen Lewis-Jones and husband David of Lenexa, Kan.; three grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Annie; two sisters, Dorothy Emery of Yucaipa, Calif., and Donna Cady of Hemet, Calif.; and three brothers, Clifford Hauser of Cresco, Vaughn Hauser of Cedar Rapids and Robert Hauser of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ann Hauser; his parents, and a brother, Gerald Hauser.
Orville was born March 14, 1920, in Van Horne, the son of Lester and Jessie (Oft) Hauser. He married Marie Ann Vejda on Sept. 13, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. He worked in the office at Harnishfeger for more than 35 years. Orville was a member of VFW Post 744 and a life member of American Legion Hanford Post 5. He loved fishing, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Orville served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre, the Pacific Theatre and received a Good Conduct Meda.
