Harley Henry Huisman was born Aug. 10, 1926 to Gerit G. ‘George’ and Tina Devries Huisman. He died Mar. 18, 2002 and is buried in the North Lawn Cemetery, Kamrar, IA.
Pvt. Huisman served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Harley Huisman, 75, Fort Dodge, died Monday, March 18, 2002 at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carrol. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. David Hammer officiating. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post #1856. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Harley is survived by his children, Connie Olson and her husband David of Carroll; Michael Huisman and his friend Tami Pruismann of Phoenix, Ariz.; Susan Swope and her husband Raymond of Menlo Park, Calif.; Raejean Midland and her husband David of Dakota Dunes, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Janet Topper of Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren, Nathan and Andrew Olson, Ryan and Sarah Huisman, Parker Swope and Joshua Midland; a brother, Fred Huisman of Melbourne, Fla., three sisters, Lillian Slippey of Nevada; Emma Olson of Jewell, and Treva Nicks of Unionville, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tina (DeVries) Huisman; two brothers, Harvey and Bernard; and a sister, Gertie Greenfield.
Harley Henry Huisman was born August 10, 1926 on a farm near Kamrar. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1940 and in October, 1944, he entered the United States Army. Harley later received an honorable discharge in August of 1946. On Oct. 8, 1948, he married Luetta Schlegel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He farmed in the Jewell area from 1946 until 1957. They then farmed in the Webster City area from 1957 until 1985 when he retired and they moved to Fort Dodge.
