FORMER JEWELL MAN KILLED IN FRANCE, JUNE 3

James A. Holt, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Holt of Windom, Minn., formerly of Jewell and Rose Grove township was killed in action in France, June 3, according to a letter from his father received by Claude V. Campbell, of the Jewell Record.

James was born in Rose Grove township, March 2, 1918. He entered the service Dec. 1, 1941. He took his training at Camp Pickett, Va., and Indian Town Gap, Pa. He leaves his wife, parents and two brothers.

James A. Holt was born Mar. 2, 1918 to George J. and Annie C. Holt. He died June 30, 1944 and is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France Plot: F Row: 9 Grave: 3.

James was killed in action in France on June 30, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
