Eugene Lewis “Gene” Gaulke was born July 13, 1926 to Lewis William and Erdene Fay Starr Gaulke. He died Feb. 2, 2017 and is buried in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly, IA.
Sgt. Gaulke served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 10th Armored Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Eamet Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and the Bronze Star. He was also awarded the Combat Infantry Badge.
