John M. Fishel was born Jan. 7, 1917 to Martin William and Martha Godden Fisher. He died Oct. 19, 1942 and has a cenotaph in Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, IA.
Sgt. Fisher served with the U.S. Army Air Corps Far East Air Force and became a POW of Japan and died while he was a POW.
