George Herbert Cockburn, Jr. was born Jan. 8, 1915 to George H. (Sr.) and Irene E. Cockburn. He died July 12, 1942 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Lt. Cockburn served in World War II with the U.S. Army 92nd Infantry Regiment, 91st Philippine Infantry Division and was MIA died as a POW in a Japanese prison camp near Cabanatuan, Luzon, Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
