Oscar Christian Christensen was born Apr. 10, 1894 to Senius and Christine Christensen. He died Aug. 3, 1968 and is buried in Memorial Cemetery, Ringsted, IA.
Pvt. Christensen served with the 1st Guard Co., United States Marine Corps in World War II. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA. Oscar also served in World War I.

Ringsted Man Found In Lake; Is Heart Victim
A heart attack has been blamed for the death of a Ringsted man those body was found floating in Hall Lake at Fairmont Saturday evening. Dr. J. R. Gardner, Martin County coroner, said he ruled the death of Oscar Christensen, 74, as caused by a heart attack. Christensen, who operated a Ringsted cafe, had mowed the lawn at his cottage on Amber Lake Saturday afternoon, then apparently decided to go swimming in Hall Lake. His body was clad in swimming trunks and shoes when it was found floating. Roger Wulf, who lives in Interlaken Park, first noticed an object floating in the lake about 7 p.m. but thought it was a water ski. About 45 minutes later, he took some children for a boat ride and decided to pick up what he thought was the ski. As he pulled alongside, he saw that it was a body and immediately went for assistance.
Services for Mr. Christensen were held at 11 a. m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ringsted. Burial was at Memorial cemetery in Ringsted. Thomas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Christensen was born April 10, 1894, at Jewell and moved to Ringsted in 1916. He married Cassie Guest in Estherville Aug. 4, 1920. They operated a cafe in Ringsted until his death. Mr. Christensen served in the Marines during World Wars I and II and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Reed, Ringsted; two sons, Dr. Samuel, Waterloo, and John, Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Wehrheim, Jewell, Mrs. Thora Fuhrman and Mrs. Thurber Curran, both of Webster City; four brothers, T. H., Ringsted, Einer, Ceylon, Harold, El Cerrito, Calif., and Arthur, La Mesa, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
