Cpl. Gerald F. Calsbeek writes from Camp Santa Anita, Calif.
Dear Editor: - It is high time that I write you a few lines. First of all I want to let you know I am receiving the Sioux Center News every week on Monday night or Tuesday noon mail call. Surely enjoy your paper very much. We were over at the Chrysler plant for two weeks driving trucks for the army, delivering army supplies to the dock, etc. We worked on eight hour shifts and enjoyed it very much. We have been back in camp now for quite a while. I am really enjoying California sunshine. It is plenty warm, but the evenings sure cool off. Always can sleep here. We are getting plenty to eat out here in camp, any have our own company cooks. I also want to let you know that I was promoted to corporal about a month ago. My address is still the same for the present. Cpl. Gerald F. Calsbeek, 459 Ord Evac. Co., Camp Santa Anita, Arcadia, California.
