Cpl. Bernie Burtis Home From Overseas
Cpl. Bernie Burtis was in Algona Monday visiting with friends. He has served overseas with the 34th division in the African, Tunisian and Italian campaigns. He arrived in the States July 29, and is now visiting at the W. A. Peterson home at Lakota. Bernie received an injured knee while on duty near Cassino, but not in the battle proper at Cassino. He is now on limited service. He was employed at the Shilts Brownbilt Store before he went into the service before Pearl Harbor.
Bernie and Miss Ivadel Peterson will be married Wednesday at Lakota and will then go to Edmonds, Wash., to visit his parents.
