Russell Laverne Brown was born Aug. 12, 1923 to Charles Burton and Eunice Mildred Brown. He died Sept. 14, 1945 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy and has a cenotaph in Cass Center Cemetery, Anamosa, IA.
Pvt. Brown served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. K, 133rd Infantry, 34th Infantry Division and was MIA/KIA/FOD. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
