James W. Boles was born Dec. 2, 1921 to James Madison and Fannie Mae Smith Boles. He died Feb. 12, 1945 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. He was initially buried in the USAF Cemetery, Leyte No. 1, Philippine Islands and repatriated to Keokuk May 3, 1949.
Sgt. Boles served in World War II with the U.S. Army 34th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division and died in the service of his country in Leyte Gulf, Philippines.
