Luverne Weldon Angstrom was born Mar. 2, 1922 to Leonard and Mabel Ruth Angstrom. He died Aug. 10, 1997 and is buried in South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.
Sgt. Angstrom served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

LuVerne Angstrom, 75, Apache Junction, Ariz., a former Stratford resident, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
LuVerne W. Angstrom, son of Leonard and Ruth (Carlson) Angstrom, was born March 2, 1922 at Stratford. He graduated from Stratford Community School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 1, 1945, he married Maralyn Beal in Boone. He farmed east of Stratford and lived in the Stratford area all his life, until 1994 when he moved to Arizona.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Owen and Carol and Craig and Pat, all of Stratford, Ivan and Cindy of Webster City, and Kevin and Cherie of Boone; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stonna and Paul Nicholas of Woodstown, NJ, Alinda and Robert Lager of Logan, and Janell and Denny Garvey of Ankeny; one brother, Merlin Angstrom of Naples, FL; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandson; special friend, Mary H. Conway, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and her son Rudy Crane, Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Mr. Angstrom was a 50 year member of both the Acorn Masonic Lodge 601 A.F. and A.M. and the F.W. Sonksen American Legion Post 576, where he was also a past commander. He was also a community band member.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, with Rev. Dale Schoening officiating. Burial will be in South Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and then at the church from 6 to 9 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
